VN one of world’s safest nations

Viet Nam has been recognised by Aon Insurance Company as one of the safest destinations for travellers, according to the Footprint Travel guides.

"The environment is captivating and the food is divine. I think it’s the best food in the world," the guide reported.

In the first quarter of 2005, Viet Nam received nearly 900,000 foreign tourists, an increase of more than 20 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Travel firm targets rich Vietnamese

Saigontourist Travel Service Co is trying to attract more moneyed Vietnamese tourists with its Premium Travel tours which were introduced earlier this week.

Tourists who buy Premium Travel tours will enjoy high-class accommodation and dining services plus convenience services such as to-the-door transport and free airport check-in services, said Company Director Vo Anh Tai.

Mountain climbing tour planned

The central city of Da Nang will launch its first mountain climbing tour next month. Ba Na Tourist Park in Da Nang has co-operated with HCM City-based Lua Viet Tourist Company to organise an outdoor adventure tour.

Travelers can climb a 30m rock face under the supervision of professional mountain climbers. The service costs VND25,000 to 30,000 per climb.

Spitting, littering to receive fines

Spitting in the street or in public places will be fined from VND10,000 to 50,000 while people who throw litter or dead animals in the street will face VND100,000 to 300,000 in fines, according to a decison issued by HCM City People’s Committee in June 2003.

Violators will be photographed and fined, the city said. District 1’s urban order management agency has established a team specialising in supervising, finding and providing proof of violators. — VNS
